Poplar Riverside, formerly known as the Leven Road Gasworks development, will provide up to 2,800 new homes, commercial space, a riverside park, a riverside walk with access to the River Lea and land for a new secondary school.

Poplar Riverside is situated next to Leven Road on the Aberfeldy estate, on the old gas works site. The development is transforming the area, providing new urban connections to Canning Town, Star Lane,  Newham, Canary Wharf and Chrisp Street, as well as a new walking route alongside the River Lea.

St William LLP are leading the development, with Poplar HARCA responsible for 219 affordable homes on this site.

Features of Poplar Riverside include:

  • New homes: Of the 219 new affordable homes, 123 will be for affordable rent and 96 will be shared ownership properties.
  • Riverside park: A new 1-hectare park will feature green spaces, children’s play areas, extensive tree planting and a range of spaces for recreation and relaxation.
  • Commercial space
  • Riverside walk: Providing new access to the River Lea.
  • Secondary school

Works are currently taking place on site, with the first phase already being delivered.
