WHAT SITUATION WERE YOU IN BEFORE YOU STARTED WITH US?

I left my last job in 2019 due to personal reasons. Since then I hadn’t been able to get back into work. I’m a single parent to a young daughter and couldn’t afford childcare, and by the time I was ready to look for work Covid came along.

I really wanted to get back into work and had applied for a job at the school I used to work at. I passed all of the checks, but ultimately didn’t get it because I didn’t have the maths qualifications they require now. I also struggle sometimes because I suffer from chronic migraines brought on by stress.

WHAT SUPPORT DID YOU GET FROM US?

I was assigned an employment advisor in Alex who helped me to amend my CV, apply for a variety of jobs and prepare for interviews.

During the Functional Skills Maths course, Aledina was incredibly supportive. Unfortunately, my brother passed away a couple of days before the exam and I failed it by five marks. Aledina was very understanding and gave me time, booking me on for a retake when I was ready. She was also very understanding during the CWFH programme when I went through quite a low time after my migraines flared up, suffering with headaches and stress almost every day of the course, but Aledina gave me extensions on all of the deadlines.

Everyone was on hand to answer my questions all of the time. All the staff at the Hive were very friendly and nice.

WHERE ARE YOU NOW AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT?

I have worked really hard to get back into work and have just secured a job in the NHS! The FS Maths, NHS programme and Alex’s support have been essential in getting me back into work. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come and I’ve been recommending the Hive to loads of friends and colleagues as I really enjoyed my time with your service.
