Welcome to Tower Hamlets

03/02/2020

Are you a migrant or do you know a migrant who’s lived in Tower Hamlets for less than 10 years? Are you a migrant who’s unemployed or employed but wants to find a better paying job? Then you may be interested in the Welcome to Tower Hamlets Programme.

Poplar HARCA is delivering a new programme for local migrants who want to increase their confidence and skills and support them into employment or volunteering opportunities.

The project is part of Tower Hamlets, Welcome to Tower Hamlets Programme, which aims to enable migrants living in the borough for less than 10 years, to integrate into life in Tower Hamlets. It will provide learning on how to access and engage with various services and contribute positively to the Tower Hamlets community.

Activities will be held across Poplar HARCA community centres and The Hive, employability hub.

Participants can expect to learn:

  • Digital skills training to help find a job (basic, intermediate, advanced)
  • Employment advice and support  – (CV writing, interview support and more)
  • Volunteering opportunities

Participants will also have access to all services delivered at our community centres and referral to other services in the borough.

“We are pleased to be part of this important and exciting initiative to empower migrants who have traditionally enriched this borough’s social fabric. By enabling migrants to get the right qualifications and jobs, we are enhancing their capacity to contribute positively to the East End community both socially and economically. We welcome everyone who wish to take up this valuable opportunity.”  Tanzeem, Assistant Director, The Hive, Employability Hub.
